Cross the borders

How to play

You are given a start country and a target country. Tap a country that shares a land border with the last one in your chain, and keep going until you reach the target. Each puzzle has a par: the fewest border crossings possible. Finish on par for a 10, and lose 2 points for each extra hop. Undo if you take a wrong turn, and you can type a country name instead of tapping.

Difficulty

Easy has a par of 2 or 3 and highlights the countries you can step to. Medium has a par of 4 or 5 with no hints. Hard has a par of 6 to 8.

About the borders

Borders come from the Natural Earth 1:110m map (public domain). Only countries with a land border to another country are in the game, and island nations are left out. Countries that only touch at a single point do not count as neighbours.

Difficulty and modes

Easy, Medium and Hard each have their own puzzle every day, so there are three to play. A tick on the tab means you have finished it. Unlimited is endless survival play at the difficulty you choose: keep going until you slip, and try to beat your personal best, which is saved in your browser.
