Name that aircraft
A contact on the radar, seen from above. Work out which airliner it is.
How to play
Each round shows one aircraft from directly above. Choose its name from the options. Look at the engines, the wing shape and the overall size, because every outline is drawn at the same scale.
Difficulty
On Easy every option looks different, so you can narrow it down by counting engines. Medium adds a look-alike from the same family. Hard gives six options, including two look-alikes, and the aircraft can be flying in any direction.
Spotting tips
- Four engines means a jumbo or an A340.
- Engines at the back point to a regional jet like the CRJ, or an older MD-80.
- Propellers mean a turboprop such as the ATR 72.
- A triangular wing and no tailplane can only be Concorde.
About the drawings
Outlines are simplified plan views built from each aircraft's published length, wingspan and wing shape. They are not exact and leave out details like winglets.
Difficulty and modes
Easy, Medium and Hard each have their own puzzle every day, so there are three to play. A tick on the tab means you have finished it. Unlimited is endless survival play at the difficulty you choose: keep going until you slip, and try to beat your personal best, which is saved in your browser.
