Flag Quiz
Three kinds of flag challenge in one free quiz: name the flag, repair a scrambled one, or paint it from memory.
A different kind of flag quiz
Most flag quizzes show a picture and ask for a name. This one does that on Easy, then goes further. On Medium you are given a country and a flag whose colours have been mixed up. Tap two parts to swap their colours until the flag is right, in as few swaps as you can. On Hard you get a blank flag and a palette and must paint the whole flag from memory.
Scoring
Every flag is rated out of ten. On Easy a correct answer earns ten. On Medium you lose two points for each swap over par, so a careful solver scores higher than a guesser. On Hard you earn points for each part of the flag that you paint the right colour. A daily quiz has five flags, so the best possible daily score is fifty.
How to get better at flags
- Learn flags in families. The tricolours, the Nordic crosses and the pan-African red, yellow and green all share patterns.
- Say the colours in order, top to bottom or left to right. That habit is what makes the Medium and Hard levels easy.
- Pay attention to proportions, for example the black stripe edged in white across the middle of the Botswana flag.
- Replay in unlimited mode. Repeating flags is the quickest way to make them stick.
About the flag set
The quiz uses around fifty simplified flags built from flat colours and basic shapes. Flags with coats of arms or detailed emblems are not included, so this is a game of colours and layout rather than a complete list of every national flag.
