Countries with more than one plug type
Many countries list two or more types, so they appear under each type above. A plug that fits one of the listed types is usually enough, but sockets in older buildings can differ.
Not listed
Our two sources did not agree for these countries, or only one source covered them, so no plug type is shown: Liberia, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, South Sudan, Suriname, Vatican City.
Frequently asked questions
How many plug types are there?
There are fifteen standard plug and socket types, labelled A to O. Type C, Type F and Type G cover the most countries in our data.
What is the difference between a travel adapter and a converter?
A travel adapter changes the shape of your plug so it fits a foreign socket. A voltage converter changes the electricity itself. Many phone and laptop chargers accept 100 to 240 V and need only an adapter; check the label.
Why do some countries list several plug types?
Some countries use more than one type, often because of older sockets or imported appliances. We list the types both of our sources confirm.
